Cyberpunk 2077: How To Tag Enemies In Phantom Liberty 2.0

Cyberpunk 2077 is a futuristic game set in 2077 and wouldn’t have been complete without some futuristic and useful abilities. One of these abilities that you can use during combat is tagging your enemies. If you cannot kill your enemies, you can tag them. This way, you’ll always know their location and what they’re up to. It’ll also help you to avoid getting flanked and anticipate enemy attacks which you can then counter. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to tag enemies in Cyberpunk 2077.

Understanding The Tagging System

Tagging enemies provides you with a visual outline of their position, regardless of obstacles in your line of sight. This is especially crucial when planning stealthy approaches or when you’re outnumbered. By tagging foes, you can strategize, avoid ambushes, and even use hacking skills without being detected.

How to Tag Enemies in Hostile Areas

There is more than one way to tag your enemies in Cyberpunk 2077 but the most straightforward and easy one is tagging using your hacker vision.

  • PC: Hold the Tab key to activate your scanner. Once in scanning mode, hover your cursor over the enemy you wish to tag and press the Scroll Wheel on your mouse.
  • PS4: Hold L1, aim at the enemy, and press the right analog stick (R3).
  • Xbox: Hold LB, aim at the desired enemy, and press the right analog stick (RS).

Another great and safer way to tag your enemies in Cyberpunk 2077 is by using the cameras. You can easily hack into cameras in your vicinity using the hacker vision. When you take control of a camera, you can safely tag enemies from a distance. You can also jump from camera to camera if they’re on the same network, which will allow you to tag even more enemies who’re not visible otherwise due to awkward positions.

Tip: Always ensure you’re hidden behind a wall or barrier when tagging enemies. If an enemy’s alert indicator starts filling up, it means they’re becoming aware of your presence. A full gauge will alert them and their allies, potentially leading to combat.

Advanced Tagging Techniques

  • Quickhacks: When scanning an enemy, you might see an option to “Ping” them using Quickhacks. Pinging sends a tracer to all other connected entities in the target’s network, revealing and tagging their locations automatically.
  • Smart Weapons: If you’re equipped with Smart Weapons and have the appropriate hand slot upgrades under Implants, you can auto-tag enemies simply by aiming at them.
  • Camera Hacking: One of the safest ways to tag enemies is by hacking into surveillance cameras. Activate your hacker vision on a camera, take control of it, and tag enemies from the camera’s perspective. This method allows you to safely tag foes in tricky positions and even jump between cameras on the same network to get different angles.

Tip: In situations where a direct confrontation isn’t ideal, scout the area first by tagging enemies. This will help you navigate the environment more safely and plan your moves in advance.

If you’ve unlocked the Ping option in your Quickhacks, you can Ping your enemies when trying to tag them in hacker vision. Doing so will reveal the locations of all other parties in an enemy’s network by sending them all a tracer message and will also tag them for you. This will come in quite handy when you’re dealing with gangs or organizations in Night City.
