While exploring in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll come across many characters who can join your party for different missions and quests.
However, not all of them will go along with each other that well as they all have their distinctive personalities, likes, and dislikes.
It might be a good idea to know how you can change your party members, in a way that they complement each other’s abilities. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the procedure of how to change party members in BG3.
How to Switch Party Members in Baldur’s Gate 3
Changing party members is pretty simple yet a tricky task in Baldur’s Gate 3 as there is no main menu option or selection screen in the game.
To change a party member, you’ll have fast travel to your camp. You can go back to the camp, by clicking on the “Campfire Icon” which is located in the top-right corner of your screen right next to the mini-map or by opening the map and then clicking on the ‘Camp’ option under ‘Waypoints’ on right side of the map.
Once in the camp, you’ll have to empty up a slot for a new party member to join. You can do this by starting a dialogue with the character you want to kick out.
While in a dialogue with the character you’ll see an option to “journey separately for now”, selecting this option will make the character leave your party and free up a slot.
You can then engage in dialogue with the character you want in your party and invite them to join you in a similar manner.
You can also invite characters that you bump into while on a journey, to join your party. If you have an empty slot available, they’ll join your party instantly, otherwise you can tell them to kill their time in your camp and you can add them to your party later when you go back to the camp.
