Limit Max Frame Rate

Playing games at an unlocked FPS is one of the advantages PC has over consoles. However, unlocked FPS stresses the GPU and CPU which can lead to games crashing. Soulmask Fatal Error crash occurs because you are playing it at a high or unlocked FPS. Limit the game’s max FPS to fix the Fatal Error crash, as it reduces the CPU and GPU load.

  • Open the Nvidia Control Panel
  • Click “Manage 3D Settings” and open the Program Settings tab.
  • Select Soulmask from the drop-down menu.
  • Scroll down, enable Max Frame Rate, and set a value for it.

Note: Unless you use a Freesync or G.sync display, your Max Frame Limit should be 1/2, 1/3rd, or 1/4th of your monitor’s refresh rate. Otherwise, the game will feel jittery.

Disable GPU Overclock

Overclocking the GPU can improve in-game performance, but also makes gaming an unstable experience as games crash to the desktop. If you have overclocked your GPU, it’s the reason for Soulmask’s Fatal Error crash. Revert the graphics card to its default GPU and CPU clocks to fix the Fatal error.

Enable Debug Mode

If you haven’t overclocked your GPU, it might be factory overclocked. Graphics cards from AIB partners, like Zotac or MSI, are factory overclocked or use higher GPU and MMemory clocks compared to Nvidia’s reference GPUs. This is the reason for Soulmask’s Fatal Error crash. Enable the Debug mode and the graphics card will start using Nvidia’s recommended GPU and Memory clocks to fix the Fatal Error. Open the Nvidia Control Panel > Help > Debug Mode.

  • Right-click Steamworks Common redistributables > Manage > Browse local files
