In a candid wrap-up to a lengthy interview with PC Gamer, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the mastermind behind FromSoftware’s eerie masterpieces, gave PC gaming fans a glimmer of hope about the potential for Bloodborne to grace their screens. As the interview was winding down, the inevitable question came up—one that’s been on PC gamers’ lips at every twitch of the livestream: “When will Bloodborne come to PC?“
Miyazaki, who had previously sidestepped such queries by pointing out that FromSoftware doesn’t hold the rights to Bloodborne, decided to take the bull by the horns this time around. Playing the role of the sacrificial lamb, the interviewer admitted to Miyazaki that failing to bring up the topic might land him in hot water with eager PC gamers still clutching to hope.
The response from Miyazaki not only lightened the mood but also shed some light on his personal views. “I know for a fact these guys want a Bloodborne PC port,” he said, gesturing towards FromSoftware producer Yasuhiro Kitao and interpreter Bobby Simpson, who were also in the room, all sharing a chuckle over the matter. “If I say I want one, I’ll get in trouble as well. But it’s nothing I’m opposed to.”
Miyazaki didn’t just leave it there; he went on to share a more heartfelt take on the subject. “Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I’d love more players to be able to enjoy it,” he confided. Reflecting on the aging nature of the game and its confinement to older hardware, he added, “Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardware—it’d be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past. So as far as I’m concerned, that’s definitely not something I’d be opposed to.”
While Miyazaki’s words aren’t a solid confirmation, they certainly open the door a crack for the possibility of Bloodborne’s revival on PC. It’s clear that if it were solely up to the folks at FromSoftware, PC gamers might soon be sharpening their blades for a gothic romp through Yharnam. Now, it’s just a matter of seeing if Sony is willing to pass the baton—or in this case, the hunter’s axe.
