Path of Exile Crash At Launch Fix, Black Screen, Stuttering, MSVCP100.dll Missing Fix

Path of Exile PC is facing errors and issues like the crash at startup, MSVCP100.dll Missing, and more. Here I have compiled a list of errors and issues with the game along with their fixes and workarounds.

Path of Exile Black Screen, Crash, And Fixes

Path Of Exile is a popular free-to-play action RPG and has been immensely popular since its launch. However, the game is still facing errors and issues like crashing, missing dll files, black screen and more.

Here I have compiled a list of Path Of Exile errors and issues that players are experiencing along with their fixes and workarounds.

Black Screen Fix

This is a common error for PC games but isn’t a critical one. Start the game and when the black screen appears, press “Alt + Enter” and the game will go into windowed mode. Go to video settings and set the proper resolution.

Crash At Launch, Game Not Launching Fix

Players are reporting that Path of Exile is crashing at launch or not launching at all. There are multiple reasons why the game is crashing and here are some workarounds and fixes that might help you.

One reason for the game to crash at launch could be your anti-virus software or Windows Defender detecting the game’s exe as a Trojan virus. Disable your anti-virus or make exclude the game’s install folder from your anti-virus. This should get Path of Exile working.

Another reason for the Path of Exile to crash at launch or not starting at all could be third-party monitoring software like MSI Afterburner or GeForce Experience.

Disable them and the game should start working. If you are using MSI Afterburner and disabling it hasn’t resolved the problem then follow the steps below.

  • Open RivaTuner Statistics Server(RTSS).
  • Click the Add button and navigate to the game’s folder.
  • Add Path of Exile’s exe under Application profile properties.
  • Set Application detection level to None for the game application.
  • Close RivaTuner Statistics Server.

One more reason behind the game to crash at startup is the lack of administrative rights. Right-click on the game’s exe > Properties > Compatibility > check “run this program as an administrator”. Apply the change and start the game. One of these should resolve the crashing issue for you.

Low FPS, Stuttering Fix

Performance is often the issue with PC games and Path of Exile is no exception. Players are facing general performance issues like stuttering, low FPS and random FPS drops. Here are a few fixes that will improve the game’s performance and will eliminate stuttering.

First, make sure you are using the latest GPU drivers and there is no background process that is using too much of your CPU or HDD.

Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings. Select the game from the list and make the following changes.

Set “Power Management Mode” to “Prefer Maximum Performance”
Set “Texture Filtering- Quality” to “High Performance”
Set Vertical sync to “Fast”

To get the “Fast” sync to work, you need to disable in-game vertical sync, remove any FPS limit, and the display should set at Fullscreen. “Fast” emulates Freesync or G.sync as it allows the GPU to render as much FPS as it can without screen tearing and if it isn’t bottlenecked by the CPU.

But, if your display is 60 Hz, it’ll only display 60 FPS even if the game is rendering at 90 FPS. This will eliminate stuttering and will possibly give you a performance boost. Also, you need at least a GTX 10 series GPU to get it to work.

MSVCP100.dll Missing Fix

This is another Path of Exile error that players are experiencing. The fix for this error is quite simple. Just reinstall C++ x86 and x64.

You can also fix this by manually download the said file from the internet and placing it in Path Of Exile’s install folder. However, I don’t recommend doing this as this might open your system to hackers.

That is all for our Path of Exile fixes for issues like the crash at launch, stuttering, missing msvcp100.dll missing, and more.
