There have been plenty of dragons in the Soulsbourne games and Elden Ring has its own. In this Elden Ring guide, we are going to walk you through where you can find and how you can beat the flying dragon Agheel.
To find the dragon, you need to head over to the south side of the large lake called Lake Agheel in Limgrave. In this region, you will find the Dragon-Burnt Ruins. Once you have found this area, the flying dragon Agheel is going to appear. You can either start the fight or run away.
How To Beat Flying Dragon Agheel In Elden Ring
The boss has a couple of attacks that it can use and they do significant damage. These attacks include bite, wing slam, leg stomp, and tail swipe. Furthermore, the boss can fly into the air and then slam its body into the ground to deal damage.
The more powerful attacks are the fire attacks. The dragon can fly into the air and rain fire down on the ground. The boss also has a standard fire attack that it can use while it is on the ground. It can also breathe fire while getting back into the air as well.
Use Spirit Summons To Help You
One of the things that can help you during the encounter is the summons. These can keep the boss distracted and keep the focus of the dragon off you. We can recommend Kaiden Sellsword Ashes since it can do a decent amount of damage before it vanishes. You can get this from the Erdtree Burial Watchdog in Cliffbottom Catacombs.
Summon Bloody Finger Hunter Yura
You can find Yura north of the Seaside Ruins Site of Grace. Fight the dragon, die, and go talk to Yura. His summon sign will become available next to the Stake of Marika for Flying Dragon Agheel. You can then use an extra NPC summon to help you fight the dragon.
Use Torrent
Your Spectral Steed is also going to come in handy as it helps you move around and avoid damage. The gliding fire breath and body slam are two of the dragon’s attacks that bring you close to it, other than that, if you are a ranged character then you can stay back and deal damage.
If you are using a melee character then you can use your stead to move in and damage the hind legs of the boss. You need to run in, deal damage, and retreat. Do this over and over to deplete the HP of the boss. This is going to take some getting used to but it is the only way to beat the dragon with a melee character. Once you have hit the dragon’s hind legs enough times, it will be staggered and you can use a riposte on its head to deal a lot of damage.
Aim For The Head When Possible
Attacking the dragon’s head deals additional damage so we recommend doing that when you can. This can be a bit easier if you have a ranged character. You can use spears or great spears since dragons are weak against piercing damage.
Use Rock Sling
If you have a magic build, then you can use Rock Sling to take advantage of its high stance damage. This will stagger the boss allowing you to go in for a critical strike.
Avoid Co-op
You might be tempted to call in a friend to help you defeat the flying dragon Agheel in Elden Ring but we recommend not doing that. Calling in a player will prevent you from using Torrent and make the encounter harder than it already is. This will also increase the health of the dragon.
Use Dragonwound Grease For Bonus Damage
Dragonwound Grease is a consumable item that gives you up to 30% bonus damage against dragons. It only lasts for a minute so you will want to have a couple of them on you. You can buy Dragonwound Grease from Isolated Merchant Dragonbarrow for 3000 Runes but you can also find it in the world for free.
Furthermore, you can craft Dragonwound Grease once you have the Ancient Dragon Apostle’s Cookbook [3]. You will need:
- 1x Root Resin
- 1x Beast Blood
- 1x Gravel Stone
Defeating the flying dragon Agheel will reward you with runes and a Dragon Heart. Dragon Hearts can be traded for Dragon Incantations at the Church of Dragon Communion.
