There are quite a lot of Rune farming strats in Elden Ring but none come close to farming the bird in the Mohgwyn Dynasty. The area, however, is locked behind an NPC questline – at least during the early game. It is through this questline that the player can get the Pureblood Knight Medal needed to access the area. In this Elden Ring guide, we have detailed all there is to know about how to get the Pureblood Knight Medal to fight Mohg, the Lord of Blood.
Elden Ring Pureblood Knight Medal
The quest begins with White-Faced Varre, whom players usually encounter early in The First Step. In order to get the Pureblood Knight Medal, make sure to defeat Godrick, the Grafted. Once defeated, travel to the Rose Church at the Liurnia of the Lakes.
Once there, speak with White-faced Varre right outside the church. Once prompted, select the top dialogue option. Continue to exhaust the dialogue to get 5x Festering Bloody Fingers.
Use these Festering Bloody Fingers to invade other people. Please note that it can only be done in the Online Mode. In addition to this, areas in Elden Ring are level-restricted. This means that a Level 100 character will not be able to invade others in the early zones. Lastly, there is no need to win these invasions. Just invade three times and be done with it.
Once three invasions are done, return to White-faced Varre at the Rose Church and speak to him to get Lord of Blood’s Favor. The Church of Inhibition is located south of the Lift of Dectus, requiring a Glintstone Key for access.
From there, travel to Four Belfries and get an Imbued Stonesword from a chest. Use this Imbued Stonesword on a portal to travel to the beginning area of the game. Once there, interact with the maiden in the room to dye the cloth.
Now all that remains is to return to White-faced Varre and exhausting all dialogue options to get a Bloody Finger and the Pureblood Knight Medal. This item can be used to travel to the Mohgwyn Dynasty. As of right now, the area is probably the best for some ridiculous Rune farming strats. In addition to this, it also houses Mohg, the Lord of Blood boss.
It’s important to note that the medal can be used from the inventory at any time, contrary to Varre’s misleading advice. The medal can be reused infinitely, providing a strategic advantage in the game. It is unique in that it can be used even during combat and in boss arenas, unlike normal teleportation items. The medal is not kept when starting New Game+, meaning players must obtain it again in each playthrough.
Players can also confront and defeat White-faced Varre in Mohgwyn Palace, though defeating him there means he cannot be revived using the Church of Vows.
