Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey New Species Guide – How to Evolve

What is your main goal in Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey? It is to evolve, adapt, and learn. Every now and then you need to evolve into a brand new species, just like humans actually did in real life. Evolving into a new species means you are progressing in The Humankind Odyssey. With each evolution, you get closer to the current state of humankind.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey New Species

The game doesn’t do a good job at explaining what exactly you need to do in order to evolve into a new species. It is not as simple as getting as many neuronal and spending time leveling your tribe.

How to Evolve into New Species

Each new species will be available to you with the passage of time so when you pass a certain year, you will end up progressing to the next species. This also means that grinding for neuronal for a few generations won’t help you suddenly evolve into something new.

The best way to evolve into a new species is to spend more time playing. The more time you pass, the faster the process of evolution will be for you.  There are certain activities you can perform to further speed up the process.

  • Craft and use tools for the first time
  • Kill an enemy for the first time
  • Eat and discover new foods
  • Reinforce as many neural as you can
  • Explore and discover new areas and landmarks
  • Craft and use a tool multiple times
  • Births

All of the activities above will make sure you reach milestones and boost your evolutionary leap. Keep in mind that you mustn’t die and avoid illness and injuries. Your tribe members will die of old age but if someone dies violently it is going to take multiple years off your year total when you evolve into a new species.

There is a way to off-set deaths since they are going to take place. Mate as much as possible, make babies which is going off-set this deduction. Too many people dying to unnatural causes will negatively impact your progress to the evolutionary cycle.

The very first species you will evolve into is Sahelanthropus Tchadensis at 9 million years. Once you reach that mark, each evolution comes at 1-2 million years.

This marks the end of our Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey New Species Guide if you need more help with the game check out how to attack and dodge, how to stop bleeding, and how to conquer fear.
