Harsgaard is the final boss of Subject 2923 campaign in Remnant: From the Ashes. You’ll find the boss in Ward Prime via a portal. In this guide, we’ve detailed everything you need to know about defeating Harsgaard in Subject 2923 DLC for Remnant: From the Ashes.
How to Beat Harsgaard in Remnant: From the Ashes Subject 2923?
During the first phase, the key to defeating Harsgaard is to play around range. Try to strafe as far away from the boss as possible and start dishing out damage. As for the best weapons, we recommend something long-ranged. The following is an overview of Harsgaard’s attacks and how to avoid them:
Beam Attack | The boss will launch a beam that will travel in a 360-degree. You shouldn’t have any trouble with it as long as you stay far away from the boss and continue to move in the same direction. |
Rectangle Mesh | The boss will create a rectangle that will periodically travel toward the outer side. You can simply run forward if it’s about to land on top of you. |
Projectiles | Lastly, the boss will hurl some red orbs toward you. You should try to stand still and only move if an orb is about to hit you. Again, you shouldn’t have any trouble with it as long as you’re far away from the boss. |
Continue to avoid these attacks and damage the boss to trigger his second phase. During the 2nd boss, Harsgaard will start utilizing a new set of attacks, as detailed below:
Projectile Attack | Harsgaard will stand still and hurl a bunch of projectiles at you from his back. You can run in any direction to avoid getting hit by them. |
Leap/Grab Attack | If you’re standing close to the boss, he’ll try to lunge at you with both his arms and damage you massively. You’ll need to dodge at the perfect time to evade this attack. |
Shockwave | For this attack, Harsgaard will raise his tentacles into the air and slam them to create a deadly shockwave that will travel toward you. You can simply run or dodge to the side to avoid it. |
3-hit Combo | Lastly, the boss has a 3-hit combo that deals a massive amount of damage. Once again, if you aren’t staying close to the boss, you won’t have to worry about it. |
After you manage to defeat Harsgaard, you’ll receive the Fusion Rifle and face off against Harsgaard, Root Harbinger.
How to Defeat Harsgaard, Root Harbinger?
After defeating Harsgaard, you’ll need to take on Harsgaard, Root Harbinger. Remember that if you die during Harsgaard, Root Harbinger fight, you’ll have to defeat the original Harsgaard again. Moreover, you should also note that Harsgaard, Root Harbinger does a lot more damage so you’ll have little to no room for mistakes.
If you see his beam attack, try to run in the opposite direction to avoid it. Do note that the beam can one-shot you on higher difficulties. Sometimes, he’ll send 3x beams toward you using both his hands. There’s a brief delay between beams so make sure to take this time to reposition yourself.
Lastly, the boss will hurl red balls at you which will detonate on impact. You should try to remain still and only move a little when an orb is about to hit you. As for damage, you’ll get brief opportunities to deal damage, therefore, try to make the most out of them.
Defeat Harsgaard, Root Harbinger to obtain the Last Resort trait and Root Neoplasm. You can take the Root Neoplasm back to Ward-13 to acquire the World’s Edge.
