How To Build Wooden Roofs In Medieval Dynasty

Building wooden roofs is a big part of constructing durable and aesthetically pleasing buildings in Medieval Dynasty. Wooden roofs offer better protection and durability compared to thatch roofs.

To build a wooden roof, you will need the following materials:

  • Logs: 2-4 per roof section, depending on the building size.
  • Planks: 4-6 per roof section.

Use an axe to chop down trees in forested areas. After the tree falls, continue chopping to produce logs. Each tree yields several logs, which are automatically collected.

To craft planks, process logs at a Woodshed or Carpenter’s Table. One log typically produces two planks. Ensure you have a Woodshed or Carpenter’s Table equipped with the necessary tools for sawing logs into planks.

Once you have gathered the necessary materials, build the walls of your structure first. Once the walls are complete, the roof frame will be outlined.

Equip a wooden or iron hammer from your inventory. With the hammer equipped, press the ‘Right Mouse Button’ (default) to open the radial menu and select ‘Building.’ Navigate to the roof section and select ‘Wooden Roof’ from the options available.

Approach each section of the roof frame. A prompt will appear indicating the required materials (logs and planks). Press the ‘Left Mouse Button’ (default) to add materials and construct each section of the roof. Repeat this process until the entire roof is complete.

Note: Upgrading to higher quality roofing materials boosts the NPC’s mood by 7% for each upgrade level. Insulation also improves by 7% with each upgrade.

Wooden tile roofs require twice as many planks as standard wooden roofs. Ensure you have sufficient planks before starting the construction.

If you are just starting out and lack the resources or facilities to produce planks, consider using a thatch roof initially. You can upgrade to a wooden roof later once you have a Woodshed or can afford to buy planks from a merchant.

You can also try sneaking around villages like Gostovia to gather materials at night. While this method can be risky, it is a quick way to collect the necessary resources if you are in a pinch.

Maintaining your wooden roof and considering future upgrades can prolong the life of your buildings and improve their durability.

Regularly inspect your roofs for damage and repair them as needed using logs and planks. Equip the hammer, select ‘Repair‘ mode, and apply the necessary materials to fix any damaged sections.

As you progress in the game, consider upgrading to better roofing materials such as stone or tile for improved durability and protection. You can also change the type of roof instead of upgrading but the process is different.
