Ranni is an NPC in Elden Ring with easily the lengthiest questline. But since it has many convoluted steps, it can be a little hard for some people to get it done. In this Elden Ring guide, we have detailed all there is to know about completing Ranni’s quest.
Elden Ring Ranni’s Quest
Ranni in Elden Ring has a relatively simple questline that the player can begin working on from the beginning of the game. Your journey begins when you meet Ranni, first introducing herself as Renna at the Church of Elleh in Limgrave after acquiring Torrent.
To start, continue to progress through the game until Melina appears at a Site of Grace to help the player level up – happens after the player has rested at a Site of Grace 3-4 times. Once done, travel to the Church of Elleh at night to speak to Renna.
Liurnia of the Lakes
You need to ensure that you’ve unlocked the Liurnia of the Lakes area as it’s a prerequisite to starting the quest. Progress through the game until you defeat Royal Knight Loretta at Caria Manor to access the Three Sisters area.
Speaking with NPCs at Three Sisters
Once at the Three Sisters, you must find Ranni’s Rise, the middle tower, to meet Ranni. Speak with her and then meet her three servants: Iji, Blaidd, and Seluvis, located downstairs. Blaidd’s insight is key, directing you to Nokron, the Eternal City.
From there, progress through the game until Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon is defeated. She can be found in the Academy of Raya Lucaria. Once done, travel to the northwestern edge to reach the Caria Manor. After clearing the Caria Manor, the player will unlock three towers:
- Ranni’s Rise
- Renna’s Rise
- Seluvis’ Rise
The player needs to speak to Ranni and agree to help her. This will start another quest for Blaidd that must be completed. Blaidd has a lengthy questline of his own that we have discussed in great detail in a separate guide. Also, make sure to speak to Renna and Seluvis in their towers as well.
Defeating Starscourge Radahn
You must defeat Starscourge Radahn to progress in the quest. This difficult fight is pivotal as Radahn’s defeat leads to a star falling and opening the path to Nokron.
Fingerslayer Blade
After completing Blaidd’s questline, return to Ranni and hand over the Fingerslayer Blade. From there, travel to Renna’s Rise and activate the Sending Gate to get teleported to the Ainsel River. After arriving in the Ainsel River, grab the Miniature Ranni and rest at the nearby Site of Grace. The player needs to select the “Speak to Doll” option until she replies.
Now travel to Study Hall, Carian Manor and activate the pedestal in order to unlock two areas:
- Liurnia Tower Bridge
- Divine Tower of Liurnia
Divine Tower of Liurnia
The player needs to head to the top of the Divine Tower of Liurnia in order to acquire an item called the Cursemark of Death. From here, go to the Nokstella Waterfall Basin in the Ainsel River. Once there, speak to Ranni followed by defeating an NPC invader to receive a key. This key opens up a chest in the Grand Library of Raya Lucaria – inside is the Dark Moon Ring.
Defeating Astel, Naturalborn of the Void
After getting the Dark Moon Ring, travel back to the Ainsel River. In there, look for a Site of Grace at the Grand Cloister. The player needs to travel to the southernmost edge of the area in order to get to a casket. Interact with it to get teleported to a new area to battle Astel, Naturalborn of the Void.
Nokron
In Nokron, your primary goal is to find the Fingerslayer Blade. Be sure to collect valuable loot along the way, like the Mimic Tear summon. Navigate through the fallen buildings and rooftops, eventually leading you to Night’s Sacred Ground. The Blade is found in a treasure chest here.
Lake of Rot and Moonlight Altar
In Nokstella, after speaking to Ranni and defeating the Baleful Shadow, you will descend to the Lake of Rot. Carefully navigate across this hazardous area, using Preserving Boluses or the Flask of Crimson Tears to mitigate health deterioration. Your goal is the Grand Cloister where you’ll find a coffin leading you to Astel’s fight.
After defeating the boss, travel to the back of the arena to take the elevator to the Moonlight Altar. From the Site of Grace, continue to jump down using the ledges until the end. Continue to progress ahead until there is a doll on the ground. Interact with the doll to speak to Ranni for the last time. There will be the Darkmoon Greatsword in the area as a reward.
Epilogue
After completing the quest, return to Ranni’s Rise for an encounter with Blaidd. Additionally, speak with Iji near the Road to the Manor Site of Grace for further dialogue.
