Marais Executioner’s Sword is one of the Legendary Armaments in Elden Ring. It has a very powerful Ash of War called Eochaid’s Dancing Blade, which constantly attacks enemies and even interrupts their attacks. The weapon has one of the highest DPS in the game making it very unique and sought after. In this Elden Ring guide, I go over how you can get Marais Executioner’s Sword.
How To Get Marais Executioner’s Sword In Elden Ring
The Marais Executioner’s Sword is dropped by Elemer of the Briar at The Shaded Castle, in the northern region of the Altus Plateau.
How To Get To The Shaded Castle
To reach The Shaded Castle in Elden Ring, you can head over to the Erdtree-Gazing Hill site of grace and then head up between the cliffs to the Shaded Castle. Use the broken wall to enter the castle and then head up the stairs to unlock the Shaded Castle Ramparts site of grace.
From the Shaded Castle Ramparts site of grace, drop down to the left, where the ladder is then hug the wall to your left to your make way across the swamp. Make your way around the swamp and take the ladder to your right. Now head forward, down the stairs, take a right, and then head up the stairs.
Jump over the wall onto the wooden platform and then jump down to your left into the swamp again. From here head up the stairs and take the ladder on your left. Head forward and interact with the site of grace on your right. Now you will have two fast travel points inside The Shaded Castle.
From the site of grace, head forward, take a left, and then head up the ladder. Head into the room on your right and pass through it to get to the exit on the other side. After you exit the room take a left and then right onto the castle wall. You will face a scarlet knight here. Kill the knight take a left and head into the room on your left.
Head up the wooden stairs, get out of the room, and defeat yet another scarlet knight. Head into the next structure to find a lift to progress forward. Take the lift up to get to the boss room.
Elemer Of The Briar Boss Tips
The following are some tips that can help you defeat Elemer of the Briar.
Sneak Attack When You Enter The Boss Room
When you enter the boss room, it is possible to sneak up behind the boss and then hit him with a fully charged heavy attack. He will counter with a shield slam which you can dodge. If you roll behind the boss then you can use a heavy attack yet again. The boss cannot be back-stabbed so you will not be able to sneak up on him and deal a critical strike.
You can parry his attacks twice to break his stance and then hit him with a critical strike.
Use Pierce And Lightning Damage
The boss is strong against Bleed and Frostbite but weak against Pierce and Lightning damage. So use this to your advantage. He is immune to madness and is susceptible to Scarlet Rot and Poison. So you can use these status effects against him.
Stay Close
Elemer of the Briar’s Dancing Blade allows him to be lethal at medium to long range but he does not have a lot of attacks are close range. If you can learn his attack patterns and stay close to him then you can take him down rather quickly.
Use A Spirit Summon
You are allowed to use a spirit summon against the boss. If you are having trouble defeating Elemer then you can use a summon to distract him and then attack him once his attention is not on you. I can recommend the Mimic Tear for this boss encounter.

To get the most out of the weapon, you will need to invest a decent number of points into Strength and Arcane but there are talismans and other items that you can use to boost this weapon’s proficiency even further.
Talismans | Winged Sword Insignia Milicent’s Prosthesis Shard of Alexander Radagon’s Soreseal (Optional) |
Flask of Wondrous Physick Mix | Magic-Shrouded Cracked Tear Thorny Cracked Tear |
Winged Sword Insignia
The Winged Sword Insignia talisman increases the attack power of each successive attack. Since the Marais Executioner’s Sword does multiple attacks in quick succession, this will increase the damage of the weapon from its skill.
The Winged Sword Insignia talisman is dropped by the Cleanrot Knight boss in the Stillwater Cave in Liurnia of the Lakes.
Millicent’s Prosthesis
The Millicent’s Prosthesis talisman increases Dexterity by 5 points and increases attack power with successive attacks, similar to the Winged Sword Insignia. To get the talisman you need to progress her questline, kill the Godskin Apostle at the Windmill Heights Site of Grace, and then kill Milicent after this point. If you decide to aid her at the end of her questline then you will be rewarded with the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia instead.
You can check out our guide on how you can complete Millicent’s questline for more details.
Shard of Alexander
The Shard of Alexander boosts the attack power of skills by 15%. You can get it by completing Iron Fist Alexander’s questline. Check out our guide on how you can complete Iron Fist Alexander’s questline for more details.
Radagon’s Soreseal
Radagon’s Soreseal is optional for this build and you can have any other talisman that you fancy in the fourth slot. Radagon’s Soreseal raises Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity by 5 points each but increases the damage that you take by 15%. You essentially get 20 levels by putting on this talisman at the cost of additional damage taken.
You can find the talisman on a corpse inside Fort Faroth in Dragonbarrow, Caelid.
Magic-Shrouded Cracked Tear
Magic-Shrouded Cracked Tear boosts your magic attacks when you use it in the Flask of Wondrous Physick. You can get it by defeating the Erdtree Avatar in Minor Erdtree in the northeastern part of Liurnia of the Lakes.
Thorny Cracked Tear
The Thorny Cracked Tear increases the damage of your consecutive attacks when used in the Flask of Wondrous Physick. You can get it by defeating the Putrid Avatar at the Minor Erdtree in the Consecrated Snowfield, east of Ordina, Liturgical Town.
