Margit The Fell Omen is the first major boss that you encounter in Elden Ring. If you have not explored and leveled your character enough, then this boss encounter can be very difficult. In this Elden Ring guide, we are going to go over how you can cheese Margit.
Note: The weapon switch cheese has been patched but you can still use the Rotten Stray Ashes and Margit’s Shackle.
Margit Weapon Switch Cheese In Elden Ring
Weapons | Uchigatana Devourer’s Scepter |
This cheese method allows you to skip past the boss arena making the boss stuck in place. I guess the game thinks the boss has been beaten, but that is not true. You can then use the same weapon switch method to come back into the arena and beat Margit without the boss attacking you back. You can check out the video below to see how exactly this works.
How To Get The Weapons For This Build
How To Get Uchigatana
If you pick the samurai class, then you get the Uchigatana as your starting weapon. If not, then you can get it from the Deathtouched Catacombs in Limgrave.
How To Get Devourer’s Scepter
Devourer’s Scepter is dropped by Knight Bernahl in the Warmaster’s Shack in Stormhill.
Margit Rotten Stray Cheese In Elden Ring
Weapons | Any |
Spirit Summon | Rotten Stray Ashes |
Additional Items | Margit’s Shackle (Optional) |
First, you need to head over to the Dragon-Burnt Ruins and take the stairs down to the underground level. You will find a couple of rats here that you will need to kill. Deal with them and proceed forward till you get to the chest, which is actually a trap, and teleports you to the Sellia Crystal Tunnel. Note that this is a high-level area, and the mobs here can kill you easily.
You need to sneak past the enemies in order to avoid being detected. Go down the mine and interact with the site of lost grace. Head through the cave and get out of the mine. From here proceed forward, and a bit to the left, and you will get the Rotten Stray Ashes.
Proceed forward to the Swamp of Aeonia and interact with the Site of Grace. Now you need to teleport to the starting area, Limgrave. Head through the Stormgate and to Margit.
Once you are at the location, you need to summon the Rotten Stray. Once done, you can start the boss fight. Generally, we recommend you let the summoned spirits take all the hits in order for you to stay safe, but you need the Rotten Stray to attack Margin enough times to apply a special effect.
In order for that to happen, you need to keep the spirit alive for as long as possible. So you need to divert the attention of the boss towards you a couple of times and keep the spirit from dying too early. You can deal damage by landing a few blows to Margin, but you do not need to do much.
Once the Rotten Stray has applied Rot to the boss, you will see red around Margit’s head. The boss might also be staggered when that happens, so you can move in for a critical hit.
Once the Rot status effect has been applied, you simply need to move away from the boss, and the Rot effect will slowly drain the HP bar. You can attack if you want if you see a window of opportunity, but all you need to do is stay away and stay alive. The boss should die on its own.
Margit’s Shackle
In order to make the boss fight easier, you can get an item called Margit’s Shackle. This item allows you to pin down Margit, giving you a few seconds to deal damage. You can use this item twice during the boss fight.
How To Get Items For This Build
How To Get Margit’s Shackle
You can get the item from Patches. He is located in Murkwater Cave dungeon in Limgrave. You can find him in the cave to the northeast. He is going to fight you, and once he is at half health he will give up. Do not attack him any further. Spare him, and you can buy Margit’s Shackle from him for 5,000 Runes. Note that if you decide to kill him, then you will get his bell.
How To Get Rotten Stray Ashes
The Rotten Stray Ashes can be found in Caelid. You need to head north from the Sellia Under-Stair Site of Grace, and you will find the Rotten Stray Ashes in a destroyed building.
