Performance benchmarks for the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 9 7900X3D are out now and the CPU performs well against the Intel 13900K and 13900KS. This is very interesting since the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D has an MSRP of $699 USD while the Intel 13900KS is more expensive at around $850.

Before looking at the numbers, you should know about the specifications of these CPUs.

Not only is the price of the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D lower than the 13900K, but it also has fewer cores, even though not all the Intel cores are performance cores. The number of threads on all CPUs is the same but the Intel CPUs have a higher boost clock speed. The AMD Ryzen 7950X3D has 3D V-Cache technology which gives it a boost in performance.
Official Benchmarks
The following are the official benchmark results from AMD that show that the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is 6% faster than the Intel 13900K and 16% faster than the 7950X.
Gaming Benchmark
We do not recommend purchasing based on the official AMD numbers. Independent tests have also been done which show the reality of how well the AMD Ryzen 7950X3D performs compared to the Intel 13900K and KS. The following build was used for testing:

On average, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is about 2% faster than the 13900K and the difference is even less when compared to the 13900K. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D is however much cheaper. So it does offer better value for money for gaming but this is not a CPU that we can recommend solely for gaming.
