The AMD Ryzen 8700G is the latest AM5 APU with RDNA 3-based Radeon 700M GPU that delivers impressive gaming performance without needing a discreet graphics card. At CES 2024, AMD had a booth showing off the new Ryzen 8700G running Starfield without the help of a dedicated graphics card.
AMD Ryzen 8700G Runs Games Like Cyberpunk 2077 And Starfield
The machine used to run Starfield at the AMD booth at CES 2024 featured the AMD Ryzen 8700G with 32GB of memory and 2TB of SSD storage. This is not what a budget build would be like, but AMD’s official benchmarks mention that the APU can run Starfield at 1080p 60 FPS so consumers can run the game without such a high-end build. You should be fine with 16 GB of RAM.
The AMD Ryzen 8700G can run games at 1080p 60+ FPS using the low preset. Such games include:
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Fary Cry 6
- Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider
- Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
- Hitman 3
- Borderlands 3
- Metro Exodus
- GTA 5
- F1 2022
- DOTA 2
- League of Legends (Default settings)
- World of Tanks Encore
AMD even compared the performance of the Ryzen 8700G without a graphics card to the Intel 13400F which was paired with the GTX 1650 and the 8700G performed better in games such as:
- Star Wars Jedi Survivor
- Alan Wake 2
- Starfield
The performance between the two is very close in games such as GTA 5, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Lies of P, which is very interesting indeed since the 8700G is not paired with a graphics card and offers much better value for money compared to the Intel and Nvidia combo build.
AMD Ryzen 7 8700G Geekbench 5 benchmark
I also spotted a Geekbench 5 benchmark for the AMD Ryzen 7 8700G and the APU scored 2014 in the single-core test while the multi-core result was 13217.
