How To Survive Winter In Manor Lords

Winter is the harshest season in Manor Lords, one that can easily wipeout most of your villagers if you’re not prepared. Trust me, I have had this happen to me multiple times before I was able to learn how to properly prepare for the Winter season in Manor Lords.

Most of my villagers died when I wasn’t paying attention to what kind of jobs I should assign them during the Winter season. There are things you cannot do in the Winter, for example, you can’t do farming or send out your people for Foraging.

These two jobs, especially, are useless in the Winter so if you don’t reassign your villagers, they will most likely sit idle for months, ending up dead in the Winter.

Reassign Families To Better Tasks: In Manor Lords, there is no way for Farming and Foraging during the Winter Season so make sure you reassign families to other jobs so they don’t end up dead by sitting idle for three months.

Focus On Wood And Fire: Houses in the game have different levels, each with its own needs. Upgrading houses requires meeting these needs. Basic needs include food and water. As long as these are met, your citizens will stay content.

Stock up on as much Meat, Eggs, and Bread inside your Granary to supply a good amount of food for your villagers.

Starting resources might include berries or deer, which you can harvest using a Forager’s Hut or Hunting Lodge. Invest your village’s initial funds in a Chicken Coop for a steady egg supply. Manage resources wisely. Use the same family to gather berries in summer and hunt in winter.

Check reserves anytime by looking at the barrel symbol on the top info panel. It tells you how many months of food and fuel you have, helping you plan ahead.

You can further boost your food supply by researching Foreign Suppliers to build Firewood and Food Carts; no better way to passively import Bread and Firewood.

Stock Up On Fuel For Winter

Without a steady supply of fuel there is no survival for your villagers. To get fuel, build a Woodcutter’s Lodge using timber from your supplies or a Logging Camp. Place the lodge near trees and assign at least one worker to start producing firewood.

Monitor your fuel using the Supplies tab. Each house uses one unit of fuel per month, which doubles in winter. Increase production if needed by assigning more workers or building additional lodges.

Remember to:

  • Stockpile fuel by building stores.
  • Unlock the charcoal kiln in your development tree to convert firewood into charcoal, effectively doubling your fuel.

Don’t Be The White House, Care For Your Homeless

The Winter season is especially difficult for the Homeless of your village. They can easily Freeze to death in the winter. So, what’s the solution? Unlike the White House, invest resource to protect your homeless from the Harsh Winter by proving them housing.

There are two ways to handle the homeless in the Winter:

  1. Build Burgage Plots
  2. Covert Homeless People’s Tent into a Worker Camp

Following the aforementioned tips and recommendations are enough to survive the harsh Winter weather in Manor Lords. It is all about taking care of your villagers by being forward thinking and preparing for the season beforehand. Fuel, fire, wood, and a healthy food supply is the way to go.
