Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is finally out on consoles and PC but the game seems to have bombed on Steam in terms of player count.
Flintlock player count is really low for a new release of this magnitude but there is a silver lining here, the reviews are “mostly positive” which might lead to an eventual boost in player numbers.
Low player count on Steam could also be attributed to the game’s release on Game Pass. However, the reviews over there are pretty bad (even when you disregard the negative reviews over SBI’s involvement).
It seems the game isn’t very well optimized for Windows PC, especially if you play via the Xbox App with Game Pass. Future updates will probably fix most of the issues but another game struggling on Xbox doesn’t bode well for the Xbox brand.
Actual sales data for Xbox, PC, and PS5 versions will come out in the coming weeks, it will paint a clearer picture of where Flintlock stands.
