AMD has already released the top-tier Radeon RX 7900 XT and the affordable RX 7600 but we have not got a replacement for the previous generation RX 6800. While we have got hints and leaks regarding the upcoming RX 7800, AMD has unknowingly confirmed the graphics card. Here is what you need to know.
AMD Radeon RX 7800 Graphics Card Confirmed
AMD’s official site has a page dedicated to the Radeon RX 7800 and there are breadcrumbs pointing out that the page is for a desktop graphics card. So this is not an upcoming mobile GPU but indeed the AMD Radeon RX 7800 desktop graphics card. While the page is there, it has not been published yet and upon clicking on the link, users are redirected to a generic page. It is possible that some information was posted or that the page was created at the backend which would indicate that the announcement of the graphics card and its release is near.
Furthermore, during the Q1 2023 earnings call, AMD’s CEO Dr. Lisa Sui seemingly teased the upcoming RX 7800 and mentioned the following:
We saw strong sales of our high-end Radeon 7900 XTX GPUs in the first quarter, and we’re on track to expand our RDNA 3 GPU portfolio with the launch of new mainstream Radeon 7000 series GPUs this quarter.
MLID speculates that the upcoming graphics card will cost around $599, the same as the RTX 4070, but will offer better rasterization performance. It goes without saying that you can expect better ray tracing performance from the Nvidia RTX 4070.
With sub-par GPU launches in the past couple of months, enthusiasts are waiting for new graphics cards that offer a significant performance uplift at a decent price point. Let us know what you think about the AMD Radeon RX 7800 and whether or not this is something that you would be interested in buying.
