Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) features a robust gacha system, similar to other Hoyoverse games like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. This system allows players to acquire new characters, weapons, and items through randomized draws, known as Signal Searches.
Banners and Channels
In Zenless Zone Zero, banners are referred to as Channels, and the act of drawing from these banners is called Signal Searching. There are two main types of channels: Standard and Limited.
Standard Channel
Single Channel uses Master Tape or Polychrome as its currency. New players get a 20% discount on the first five “10x searches” (8 Master Tapes instead of 10). It also ensures an S-Rank Agent within the first 50 signal searches (one-time trigger).
- S-Rank Signal: 0.6% (0.3% for W-Engine, 0.3% for an agent)
- Guaranteed S-Rank at 90 signal searches
- A-Rank Signal: 9.4% (4.7% for W-Engine, 4.7% for an agent)
- Guaranteed A-Rank at 10 signal searches
After 300 signal searches, you can choose an S-Rank agent for free from a pre-defined list:
- Grace Howard
- Alexandrina Sebastiane
- Koleda Belobog
- Nekomiya Mana
- Soldier 11
- Von Lycaon
Limited Channels
Limited Agent Channel
Limited Agent Channel uses encrypted Master Tape or Polychrome as its main currency.
Base Rates:
- S-Rank Agent: 0.6%
- Guaranteed S-Rank at 90 signal searches
- A-Rank Signal: 9.4% (7.05% for an agent, 2.35% for W-Engine)
- Guaranteed A-Rank at 10 signal searches
This uses a 50/50 system where there is a 50% chance of getting the featured agent. If not, the next S-Rank signal is guaranteed to be the featured one.
Limited W-Engine Channel
Limited W-Engine Channel uses Encrypted Master Tape or Polychrome as its currency as well.
Base Rates:
- S-Rank W-Engine: 1%
- Guaranteed S-Rank at 80 signal searches
- 75% chance of being the featured W-Engine. If not, the next S-Rank W-Engine is guaranteed to be the featured one.
- A-Rank Signal: 15% (13.125% for W-Engine, 1.875% for an agent)
- Guaranteed A-Rank at 10 signal searches
Limited Bangboo Channel
Boopon is the main currency used in Limited Bangboo Channel.
Base Rates:
- S-Rank Bangboo: 1%
- Guaranteed S-Rank at 80 signal searches
- 75% chance of being the featured Bangboo. If not, the next S-Rank Bangboo is guaranteed to be the featured one.
- A-Rank Bangboo: 15%
- Guaranteed A-Rank at 10 signal searches
Zenless Zone Zero Gacha Rates
The gacha rates in ZZZ are consistent with other Hoyoverse games:
- S-Rank: 0.6%
- A-Rank: 7.2%
- B-Rank: 92.2%
- Guaranteed S-Rank: 90 pulls
- Guaranteed A-Rank: 10 pulls
- 50/50 System: For featured S-Rank characters
Pity System
The game incorporates a pity system similar to other HoYoverse games:
- Hard Pity: Guarantees an S-Rank item at 90 pulls.
- Soft Pity: Increases chances of pulling an S-Rank starting at 75 pulls.
Hard pity is the guaranteed number of pulls after which you will definitely receive an S-Rank character or item.
In Zenless Zone Zero, this threshold is set at 90 pulls. This means that if you haven’t received an S-Rank character or item by your 90th pull, the 90th pull will guarantee an S-Rank. This system ensures that even in the worst-case scenario, you won’t have to pull more than 90 times to get a high-tier reward.
Soft pity is a system that increases your chances of pulling an S-Rank character or item before reaching the hard pity threshold.
In ZZZ, the soft pity begins at 75 pulls. From the 75th pull onward, the probability of getting an S-Rank increases with each subsequent pull, making it more likely that you’ll receive an S-Rank before hitting the hard pity at 90 pulls.
50/50 System
In addition to the pity systems, Zenless Zone Zero also employs a 50/50 system for featured S-Rank characters.
When you pull an S-Rank character, there is a 50% chance it will be the featured character on the banner. If you don’t get the featured character, the next S-Rank pull is guaranteed to be the featured character.

Building Pity
Some players build pity by pulling on existing banners to increase their chances of getting a desired character from an upcoming banner. However, this strategy can backfire if you accidentally pull an S-Rank, resetting your pity count.
How to Reroll
To reroll, create a new HoYoverse account, play through the initial stages until you unlock the Signal Search system, and use the free currency to pull for characters. If the pulls are unsatisfactory, abandon the account and repeat the process.
Rerolling involves creating new accounts to take advantage of free beginner bonuses and obtain desired characters. While it can yield a valuable account, it is time-consuming due to unskippable cutscenes and tutorials.
