62% Elden Ring Players on Steam are Unable to Play Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

The latest expansion for Elden Ring, “Shadow of the Erdtree,” is now available, but a significant number of players may find themselves unable to experience it anytime soon.

According to recent statistics from Steam, only 37.8% of players have defeated Mohg, Lord of Blood, the formidable gatekeeper to the DLC’s new content.

This leaves a staggering 62.2% of players grappling with the challenge of overcoming one of the game’s toughest bosses to access the much-anticipated DLC.

“Shadow of the Erdtree” requires players to interact with Miquella’s cocoon located in Mohgwyn Palace and this can only done after defeating Mohg.

Given the game’s impressive sales figures, with over 23 million copies sold, this translates into roughly 13 to 14 million players potentially locked out.

Accessing Mohgwyn Palace itself is a challenge, involving steps that either require completing a part of White Mask Varré’s questline to obtain the Pureblood Knight’s Medal or going through the Consecrated Snowfield to use a teleportation Waygate.

Both paths lead to Mohg, a fight that many players have yet to complete. Before the DLC comes out, millions of players must beat this boss fight.

On a related note FromSoftware recently stated that if players look up guides to get by, the game has room for improvements. Let me tell you, beating Mohg 100% requires looking up a guide.
