No Rest for the Wicked is available now in early access and it offers an interesting blend of RPG and souls-like combat. The game is challenging and not a typical top-down looter RPG. Here are some tips and tricks that will help you get through No Rest for the Wicked.
No Rest For The Wicked Tips And Tricks
The following are the tips and tricks that will make playing No Rest for the Wicked much easier.
Loot Everything
The game has a lot of loot including items and resources you can pick up. Even simple things such as herbs and mushrooms should be picked up. This is because the game does not have a flask system for healing like Elden Ring, you need food to heal, and picking up resources such as herbs and mushrooms will allow you to cook different foods.
Explore The World
Exploration is very important in No Rest for the Wicked, which is why one of my tips is to explore everything. You can rush to the boss as you start the game but you will miss out on loot and resources that you will need down the line. Exploring areas around you will give you valuable resources, XP, and currency, all of which are very important. Exploration will help you find better gear, hidden secrets, recipes, and much more.
There Is No Animation Cancellation
There is no animation cancellation in No Rest for the Wicked. Once you have pressed the attack button, you have now committed to the attack. You can try pressing the dodge button or any other button but your character will continue to complete the attack animation. So you will need to be precise with your button presses and choose when you want to attack or dodge carefully. Button mashing is not going to get you far in this game. Look for windows of opportunities to attack to deal damage while remaining safe.
Mind Your Equipment Load
The armor that you wear and the weapon that you use has weight to it and this counts towards your equipment load. At low equipment load, you can dash around fairly quickly. At medium equipment load, you can dodge roll a fair distance. At heavy equipment load, your dodge distance becomes significantly shorter and your stamina regeneration decreases as well. So even if you cant stick to a light equipment load, you should at least stay in a medium equipment load.
Which Stats Should You Invest In Early?
As you level up, you will gain points that you can invest into different character stats. Which stats should you invest these points into early on? The most important stats to invest in early on are health, stamina, and equipment load. Having more health will ensure survivability. Additional stamina will allow you to land a few hits on enemies and have enough stamina remaining to dodge incoming attacks. Equipment load allows you to wear and use better gear.
You Can Swim
Unlike Elden Ring, your character can swim in No Rest for the Wicked. Swimming does consume stamina but you should explore areas that require you to swim since you can often find useful items and loot. If you do swim too far and lose all your stamina then you will drown. So do keep that in mind.
Engage With Heavy Attacks
If you are having trouble in combat then I recommend engaging enemies with heavy attacks. Heavy attacks allow you to close the gap between you and your enemy while dealing additional damage. You should follow up with light attacks rather than heavy attacks since follow-up heavy attacks take longer compared to light attacks. Engaging with a heavy hit and then dealing damage with a light attack will allow you to conserve stamina, giving you enough stamina to dodge out of the way if things go south.
Get The Agility Ring
The Agility Ring is a very powerful item that you can get early that reduces the stamina cost of your attacks by 8%, increases attack speed and movement speed by 11% and 10% respectively, and reduces the stamina cost of sprinting by 12%. It also gives you resistance against heat, cold, electric, and plague.
