Thorn Whip is a Transmutation cantrip that conjures a thorny vine to strike a target, dealing piercing damage and pulling the target closer to you.

  • Range: 9 meters (30 feet)
  • Components: Verbal, Somatic
  • Duration: Instantaneous
  • Damage Type: Piercing (1d6 damage initially)
  • Effect: Pulls the target 3 meters closer to the caster (if it is Large or smaller)

Effects And Damage Scaling

  • Initial Damage: 1d6 piercing damage when cast.
  • Level 5: Damage increases to 2d6.
  • Level 10: Damage increases to 3d6.

How To Get Thorn Whip In BG3

Thorn Whip can be acquired by Druid, Nature Domain Cleric, Warlock (via Pact of the Tome). Alternately, Feats provide another way to get the Thorn Whip, especially if your character does not naturally have access to it:

  • Magic Initiate (Druid)
  • Spell Sniper

The primary function Thorn Whip is to deal 1d6 piercing damage and pull the target 3 meters closer to you. As characters level up, Thorn Whip’s damage increases:

  • Level 5: Damage increases to 2d6.
  • Level 10: Damage increases to 3d6.
