How to Use Stealth

Stealth is a high-risk high-reward gameplay technique that requires plenty of time to master, especially if you’re playing to a higher difficulty. To successfully use stealth in Cyberpunk 2077, you need to focus on two key factors; Sneaking and Infiltration.

Sneaking

Don’t run or walk your way around a hostile area. Press Circle/B to crouch while moving with L. Crouching allows you to sneak around the map without being heard by your enemies. As long as you’re not being reckless, such as opening fire or making noise by running, you will be able to sneak from cover to cover silently. Staying crouched is the best way to make sure enemies can’t hear. In fact, even security cameras don’t register noise.

Infiltration

Infiltration of enemy locations depends on not being seen by enemies and security gadgets. All enemies in Cyberpunk 2077 have a defined cone of vision which you can see on the mini-map. Use the mini-map to avoid detection from enemies. If you stay in the open and do not use any cover, you will be detected if you come into the con of vision. As long as you remain outside the con of vision and behind some cover, you can stealthily infiltrate enemy camps.

Tip: Hack cameras to create new Infiltration and Sneaking opportunities.

How to Do Silent Takedowns

To perform a silent takedown in Cyberpunk 2077, sneak behind an enemy and press Square/X to grapple and enter the chokehold position. In this position, you can perform a lethal or non-lethal takedown. Enemies dispatched with Silent Takedowns won’t regain consciousness, which lethal and non-lethal takedown is a completely moral choice, nothing more.

There are many sections in the game where you can silently take down all enemies one by one with melee takedowns without using any guns or triggering security alarms.

How to Hide Bodies

One of the key elements of stealth is hiding bodies after you perform takedowns. If enemies discover bodies, they will increase security and start looking for you. As a result, it’ll become much harder to use stealth and infiltrate your way into enemy camps. To hide bodies in Cyberpunk 2077, hold Traingle/Y to pick up the body and then press Square/X to hide the body in dumpsters, crates, trunks, and other suitable places.

As a general rule of thumb, make sure to never leave bodies out in the open. If bodies are spotted, enemies will enter an increased state of vigilance. Although it is extra work, it is worth hiding bodies in Cyberpunk 2077.

Tip: When you grapple enemies, it will take a while before they can break free which gives you enough time to take them somewhere quiet.

How to Tag Enemies

To tag enemies in Cyberpunk 2077, hold L1/LB and tag all enemies in your line of sight. They will stay marked even if you close your sensor. Tagging enemies increases your chances of sneaking through hostile areas without detection. All tagged enemies display a colored outline, making it easier to track their movements. The scanner will dilate time which gives you some breathing room in stealth infiltrations.

Make sure to tag surveillance equipment such as cameras and turrets to reveal their detection area.
