Baldur's Gate 3 Light Cantrip Spell effects and how to get.

How To Get Light Cantrip Spell In BG3

The most straightforward way to obtain Light is by selecting a class that has access to it:

  • Bard
  • Cleric
  • Sorcerer
  • Wizard
  • Eldritch Knight (Fighter subclass)
  • Arcane Trickster (Rogue subclass)

These classes have access to the Light cantrip from level 1 or, in the case of Eldritch Knight and Arcane Trickster, from level 3.

Certain races in Baldur’s Gate 3 can start with Light due to their innate magical abilities. High Elves and High Half-Elves can choose one wizard cantrip at character creation.

Feats provide another way to acquire Light, especially if your character does not naturally have access to it. The Magic Initiate feat allows you to choose a cantrip from the Bard, Cleric, Sorcerer, or Wizard spells.

How Light Cantrip Spell Works

Light can be cast on any object, causing it to emit bright light. This cantrip is particularly useful in dark environments, such as dungeons and the Underdark. Casting Light on a character’s weapon can provide a mobile light source that moves with the character.

Light is effective for both utility and combat situations. Use it to:

  • Illuminate Dark Areas: Ensure visibility in dark environments to avoid ambushes and find hidden objects.
  • Support Allies: Cast Light on a front-line ally’s weapon to provide consistent illumination during combat.
  • Highlight Enemies: In some cases, casting Light on an enemy can prevent them from hiding in darkness.
