Diablo 4: 20 Best Changes Coming In Season 4 (Loot Reborn)

Discover the exciting Diablo 4 Season 4 changes: Blizzard’s focus on loot and itemization. Following the Season of the Construct, Diablo 4 undergoes significant transformations, particularly in its loot and itemization systems. In a notable shift, Blizzard is scaling back on seasonal content to elevate game mechanics. Lets explore the key features awaiting in Diablo 4 Season 4, also known as Loot Reborn.

20 Best Diablo 4 Season 4 Changes I Am Excited About

New Diablo 4 season 4 changes include loot and itemization tweaks that fans have been asking for. While there is minimal new seasonal content, Blizzard has worked on fixing issues involving material costs and material farming, as well as gear, etc. The following are the 20 best Diablo 4 Loot Reborn changes that I am looking forward to.

Loot And Itemization Tweaks

Items in season 4 will drop with fewer affixes on them. Items that feature conditional affixes that only apply to specific conditions will no longer drop. This means that you will no longer get items with affixes such as damage against non-elites.

Diablo 4 Season 4 Changes Loot And Itemization Tweaks

Non-conditional affixes include damage bonus, stat points, summoning damage, and ability points. The values of all these stats have been improved so players feel more powerful.

Some might argue that this dumbs down the game to a certain degree but it is worth noting that some of the conditional affixes were pretty useless and it is nice to see them removed. This changes the drop pool significantly which should make farming for gear more exciting when Diablo 4 season 4 launches.

The item drop rate has been decreased so that players spend more time in combat and less time sorting through their inventory and stash tabs. The items that do drop, are going to be more relevant and useful. Materials needed for salvaging and crafting have been adjusted according to the decreased drop rate. Materials needed for anything at the blacksmith have also been reduced significantly.

Masterwork System Replaces The Upgrade System

The new masterwork system replaces the upgrade system at Blacksmith and allows players to upgrade affixes and the base damage of a weapon. This massively upgrades one of the four affixes that you have on a weapon on the fourth upgrade.

There are 12 tiers for masterwork on an item and you can upgrade an affix three times for every item. You can focus on one affix if you want and that could be the best strategy in Loot Reborn. If you are not happy with the choices that you have made then you can reset the masterwork tier and masterwork the item from scratch once again.

Nightmare Dungeon Glyph XP Get 25% Buff

Leveling up glyphs can be a long and tiring process that involves a lot of grinding and running Nightmare Dungeons over and over again. Thankfully, with the launch of Loot Reborn, Nightmare Dungeons will reward 25% more glyph XP, allowing players to max their glyphs much faster. Seasonal buffs can further improve the XP acquired by completing Nightmare Dungeons in Diablo 4.

The Pit Of The Artificers

Changes in Diablo 4 Season 4 (Loot Reborn) include the addition of the Pit of the Artificer in both the seasonal and eternal realms. Once you reach world tier 4, you will get a quest that allows you to unlock the Pit of the Artificer. To take part in the new activity you will need rune shards that you can be obtained from other events in the game and Whisper bounties.

The activity is a 10-minute challenge in which you kill enemy waves to spawn the final boss. Once you defeat the final boss, you will gain the special material needed to masterwork your weapons. You will also progress to the next tier of the pit. The pit goes up to tier 200 with higher-level tiers offering better rewards.

Up to four players can take part in the activity but each death will decrease the time that you have. The first death penalizes the team with 30 seconds, the second death has a 60 seconds penalty and all other deaths after that will have a 90 seconds penalty.

Aspects Are Now Stored In the Codex Of Power Indefinitely

Instead of extracting aspects from items for a single use, affixes will now be stored in the Codex of Power and will be available for use indefinitely. You can add rolls to the Codex until you get a max roll and then it will be available for use whenever you want.

Aspects Are Now Stored In the Codex Of Power Indefinitely

This is one of my favorite changes being introduced in Diablo 4 Loot Reborn since I will no longer have to extract affixes from gear and weapons just in case I need to use one later on. This is a nice improvement that many players will appreciate.

Helltide Rework

Helltide has been reworked based on the feedback from the Blood Harvest activity in Season of the Blood. As you progress through Helltide, you will increase Threat, based on the difficulty of the enemies that you defeat and how often you open Tortured Gifts.

Threat has three levels and each level has a higher enemy spawn rate and difficulty. When Threat is maxed, players will become hell marked and will be attacked by dense waves of enemies and Hellborn, a power fallen that represents one of the classes from D4.

Once the Hellborn is defeated or the player dies the cycle will repeat itself. Once you defeat the Hellborn, you can get Profane Mindcage. This is a rare elixir that increases the level of enemies in Helltide by 10 but also increases Cinder drop rates.

The Accursed Ritual is another addition coming to Helltide. This is an event that you can find as an occultist ritual with three beheaded occultists. Collect three Baneful Hearts from Tortured Gifts and Fallen Hellborn to start the ritual. Defeat the enemy waves to spawn the Blood Maiden boss. Adding more hearts to the ritual will increase the rewards that you get at the end of the event.

Accursed Ritual Helltide Activity

Forgotten Souls are no longer exclusive to Helltide and can be obtained from Tree of Whisper bounties and Elites.

Tempering, Tempered Stats, Lower Veiled Crystal Cost

Tempering And Tempered Stats

There are new tempered stats in Loot Reborn that are indicated by an anvil icon. You can use the blacksmith to craft these onto non-unique items by using tempering manuals that can be found in the open world. Some of these are exceptionally powerful including one that allows you to cast Bone Spear twice.

The Veiled Crystals cost has been decreased significantly especially for imprinting gear. Imprinting an aspect on an item now only costs 16 Veiled Crystals rather than 75. Legendary items will also reward you with Veiled Crystals so not only do you need more for crafting but you also get more from dismantling gear that you do not need. Ancestral items will give you triple the amount of Veiled Crystals while sacred items will give you double.

Greater Affixes

Ancestral, Legendary, and Unique items now have a chance of dropping with greater affixes. These items drop randomly and are distinguished by a star in their name when they drop.

Items with greater affixes only drop in world tier 4 and these affixes are 1.5 times stronger than a regular affix. So they are worth farming and getting your hands on when Loot Reborn launches.

Greater Affixes D4

Torment Andariel And Tormented Boss Material Tweaks

Andariel makes a return in Diablo 4 in the form of a tormented echo. The Uber Unique drop rates for the boss will be similar to that of Duriel. The boss will be part of the permanent content available in both eternal and seasonal realms. Andariel can be summoned at Hanged Man’s Hall and can be summoned using Stygian Stones, Sandscorched Shackles, and Pincushioned Dolls. Stygian Stones can be earned from the Pit of the Artificer.

The materials required to summon tormented bosses have been reduced. Furthermore, while Andariel and Duriel have the highest chance of dropping Uber Uniques, the other bosses in Diablo 4 also have a small chance of dropping Uber Uniques.

World Tier Loot Changes

Sacred gear now only drops at world tier 3 and ancestral items only drop at world tier 4. Some uniques can now drop at world tier 1 and Uber Uniques will start dropping when you come across level 55+ enemies.

These are the major changes coming to Diablo 4 Season 4. As you can see there is not much that is new in terms of content in Loot Reborn but as the name implies, Blizzard has worked on improving the game across the board including tweaking loot, itemization, and affixes. You can check out the official patch notes on the Blizzard site. With all these changes in place, Diablo 4 is going to feel like a very different game, especially after playing season 3 or the season of the construct.

New Armor Cap

New Armor Cap Diablo 4

Armor will now be capped when fighting level 100 monsters. Once you get 9,230 armor you are finished with your journey. Other mechanics from season 3 such as physical damage mitigation and a physical resistance cap of 85% are still in effect.

This now removes the guesswork involved when dealing with high-level enemies. Once you are at the armor cap you can look into other stats and stop investing in armor or finding amor percentage affixes.

Obols Drop 925 Gear (And Greater Affixes)

The amount of max Obols that you can have has been increased to 2500. Furthermore, Nightmare Dungeons and Pit of the Artificer will drop Obols. In Diablo 4 Loot Reborn, Obols will drop 925 gear at level 100, so there is a significant chance of getting useful gear from gambling. Interestingly, items that you get from gambling can also have greater affixes on them.
