FromSoftware understands that beginning a journey in their games is an arduous affair. This is why, as tradition, the player is offered a Keepsake to choose from during the start. In this Elden Ring guide, we have detailed all there is to know about which Keepsakes are the best.
Elden Ring Keepsakes
Keepsakes in the game are like Burial Gifts from previous Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro games that give the player an advantage during the early game. Mostly, these items are one-time use only and do not provide a massive advantage which is why it is entirely possible to begin the game without choosing one.
Below, we have provided a complete list of all the Keepsakes in ER:
Crimson Amber Medallion
It is a Talisman that increases your maximum HP. It is a solid choice for beginners, offering extra survivability. This benefit is particularly useful in early-game when you are still adapting to the mechanics. While the HP boost is beneficial early on, other HP-increasing items available later may reduce its long-term appeal.
Lands Between Rune
It provides 3,000 Runes upon use, which can be spent on leveling or purchasing items. Its utility, however, is debated as players can accumulate Runes through normal gameplay. This can be a significant early boost, particularly if you’re looking to strengthen your character quickly. However, the impact diminishes as you progress, making it less valuable than other lasting benefits.
Golden Seed
This upgrades your Sacred Flask by adding an additional charge, directly improving healing capabilities. This benefit continues to provide value throughout the game, making it an excellent choice for players who value longevity and resource management.
Fanged Imp Ashes
It allows you to summon 2x Fanged Imps for assistance in combat. These summons can aid in crowd-control and add to your damage output, especially useful in challenging encounters. Summons become invaluable in tougher fights, offering strategic options for handling large groups or tough bosses.
Cracked Pot
This is used for crafting throwable items, the Cracked Pot’s utility grows as players collect more recipes and materials. This item becomes more valuable as players progress and engage in complex crafting. Cracked Pots are particularly useful for players who enjoy using tactical items in combat scenarios.
Stonesword Key
It provides access to areas sealed by imp statues. These keys are valuable for early exploration and can lead to finding hidden treasures, resources, and bosses. Though rare, the opportunities it opens for exploring hidden parts of the game world can significantly enhance your experience.
Bewitching Branch
You can use this to turn enemies into temporary allies. Its effectiveness varies depending on the enemy type and the situation, making it a less predictable choice. This can dramatically shift the dynamics of a fight, particularly in densely populated areas.
Boiled Prawn
It temporarily boosts physical damage negation. Given its short-term effect and limited quantity, it is often overlooked in favor of Keepsakes with more lasting benefits. Though not as powerful as other options, it can be a fun choice for those looking to experiment with combat tactics.
Shabriri’s Woe
It can be used to attract enemy attention, useful in co-op play for players focusing on a tank role. When combined with a high defense build, it can effectively divert enemy aggression. This Keepsake is best suited for players who are experienced in managing aggro and can use this trait to their advantage in strategic play.
Lastly, do note that choosing a Keepsake is not required. Players can simply progress through the game without a Keepsake should they do choose to do so.
