How To Get Rainbow Stones In Elden Ring

Rainbow Stones in Elden Ring are items used primarily to highlight hidden and dangerous paths throughout The Lands Between.

When used, Rainbow Stones emit light and make a sound upon contact, indicating the safety of a drop based on the tone and color. If the stone shatters, the drop is fatal; if it remains intact, the fall is safe.

How To Get And Craft Rainbow Stones In Elden Ring

To craft Rainbow Stones, players need to purchase the Crafting Kit from Merchant Kale at the Church of Elleh, located just north of the ‘The First Step’ Site of Grace in Limgrave.

This kit unlocks Elden Ring’s crafting menu, which is crucial for making various items, including Rainbow Stones.

Next, players must acquire the Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook (7). This cookbook can be found at the end of a collapsed bridge near a Finger Reading Crone in Stormhill, east of Stormveil Castle.

The location is north-northwest of Stormhill Shack, southwest of the ‘Lake-Facing Cliffs’ Site of Grace, and west-southwest of the Divine Tower of Limgrave.

After obtaining the cookbook, players need only 1x Ruin Fragment to craft a Rainbow Stone. Ruin Fragments are abundant across The Lands Between and can be found glowing on the ground atop fallen ruins.

Note: Rainbow Stones are needed to get items like Cinquedea Dagger.

Rainbow Stones Locations

Rainbow Stones can also be found in various places throughout Elden Ring’s world. Some notable locations include:

  • Atop the structure at Academy Gate Town.
  • On a corpse in the river near Earthbore Cave.
  • On a larger rock near the top of the Siofra River Well.

These locations provide players with an alternative method to obtain Rainbow Stones without crafting.

How to Use Rainbow Stones

Rainbow Stones are used to highlight hidden and dangerous paths. To use them:

  1. Walk to the edge of a cliff, rooftop, waterfall, or any high point.
  2. Toss the Rainbow Stone off the edge.
  3. Observe the stone’s reaction upon hitting the ground:
    • If it breaks, the drop is fatal.
    • If it remains intact, the player can survive the drop.

Using Rainbow Stones is crucial for safely navigating Elden Ring’s expansive open world, where fall damage is a common threat. They are particularly useful for mapping out invisible paths and ensuring safe exploration.

Additionally, players can craft Rainbow Stone Arrows using three Thin Beast Bones and three Ruin Fragments. These arrows leave glowing marks on their targets, making it easier to track enemies.
