Firstly, you need to have enough knowledge to craft certain items and this knowledge comes from Cookbooks. You’ll pick up Cookbooks along the way as you progress and explore the open world.
Secondly, you need to harvest materials from the field. You can do this through branches, flowers, etc., and also hunt down different animals to get crafting items.
Lastly, you need to purchase a Crafting Kit from Merchant Kale. Runes are the primary currency in Elden Ring so you’ll need them to purchase items from the in-game merchant.
