Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has plenty of missions that give you not only the story but the lore of the game as well. The Old Friends mission will have you meet Trygve and find Hemming Jarl. Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Old Friends
To start the Old Friends quest in Valhalla, head to Snotingham, Snotinghamscire. This quest begins after pledging to Snotinghamscire from the alliance map in the longhouse at Ravensthorpe. If you have any trouble tracking the quest, you can open the map and go to the objective.
Finding Trygve
Once you reach the area, you can see a building. Go inside, and you will find Trygve whom you will want to talk to. You’ll find Trygve in the cave system within Snotingham. If having trouble locating him, use Odin’s Sight. After the dialogues, there will be a sequence where you will have to follow him to the Snotingham docks.
You will then have to go along with Trygve using your longship. As you sail toward the checkpoint on the shore to the west, be prepared for an ambush by Picts. You can choose to engage them in melee or use your bow from the longship, taking advantage of unlimited arrows and targeting oil jars for explosive effects.
Reaching Hemming Jarl
Upon arriving, look for a hill and go up it until you find Hemming Jarl. This part of the quest involves navigating through enemy-filled areas, giving you the freedom to engage.
The next sequence will have you go into the area filled with enemies. The assault on Ulkerthorpe Fort isn’t structured, so feel free to engage enemies as you wish. On your way to the tower, be wary of specific enemy types like Wolf Master’s and Madmen. When reaching the tower, you can climb its walls to reach the top.
Confronting Gede
Once reaching the top, you will encounter Gede and his men. Gede uses a spear and has a similar combat style to a Macbeth elite unit. When his health is low, he’ll drink a potion which increases his combat effectiveness. Defeating Gede triggers the final cutscene with Hemming Jarl.
After the cutscene with Hemming Jarl, the quest will end. Completing this quest will reward you with 5,100 XP.
